Melas-Asklepieion Olive Oil Industry specializes in producing,
packaging and marketing olive oil and particularly in producing the Extra
Virgin Olive Oil product of organic farming (regulation 2092/91 of
the EEC) and
P l u s
protected
designation of origin "LYGOURIO ASKLIPIOU" (regulation 2081/92
of the EEC).
In this region, the cultivation of the olive tree is a thousand-year-old
tradition, inseparably bound with the TEMPLE of ASKLEPIEIOS
EPIDAURUS.
The total cultivated area, 79.000 acres long, contains 1.050.000 olive
trees with an annual oil production of about 3.000 tn per year.1.150 acres
of these, containing 25.000 olive trees, are organically cultivated with an
annual production which in the 2007-2008 season is estimated to be 150 tn.
The soil - weather conditions are ideal. The soil is of sandy-clay-loam-SCL
type and contains great quantities of whole calcium.
The extra virgin olive oil "Product of Organic Farming"and
plus P.D.O. Lygourio Asklipiou is produced by the much celebrated "manaki"
variety using "first cold pressed" techniques, under
strictly controlled conditions according to the EEC regulations and is
stored in stainless tanks.
All these ensure a product of stabile quality, with exceptional taste and
flavor, preserving all the valuable ingredients of the olive fruit.
The product is packed in 500 ml glass bottles of the MARASKA or DORICA
type in brown-green (UVAG) color, with controlled flow caps, safety
rings and strips mentioning the product's code, making it unique per
production year. The bottles also carry two self-adhesive labels,
containing all the necessary information that defines the product.
Our labels are printed in English, French and German, depending on our
consumers' preferences.
The product is certified by "BIO HELLAS
s.a" . (Organic product certification institute.) CODE No:
360065
During its transfer it is always accompanied by a Control Certificate
of the certification organization.
The final product is packaged in cartons which are then placed on to wooden
crates (pallets).
